All curcumins are not created equal. Although used for centuries as an ingredient in Asia, most forms are poorly absorbed in the bloodstream, whether coming from food or a nutritional supplement. Curcumin-SF has a 29x greater absorption rate compared to ordinary curcumin.
When taken daily, Curcumin-SF helps maintain a healthy inflammatory response throughout the body. Curcumin enhances the activity of the COMT enzyme, which helps metabolize estrogen via methylation (the main way gene activity is adjusted during life!) in both men and women. In turn, it protects cells from DNA damage from improper estrogen metabolism.

Iodine+
The thyroid gland takes the iodine you ingest and converts it into two hormones—thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). T4 and T3 regulate our body’s metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Every cell in the body depends on T3 and T4, so if it doesn’t have enough, it isn’t functioning well. Iodine+ also contains two other essential ingredients—selenium and zinc. Selenium and zinc are also needed to help with the formation of active thyroid hormone T3.
When taken daily, Iodine+ provides the body with a substantial amount of iodine to promote healthy hormone production. Moreover, iodine supports healthy breast tissue by up-regulating proteins involved in estrogen metabolism.
Even healthy eaters may be at risk. Some foods can cause a relative iodine deficiency by binding to iodine, which can make the bound iodine inaccessible for thyroid hormone production. These foods include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kale, soy, peanuts, pine nuts, turnips, and rutabaga, although cooking these foods tends to make them less apt to do this.

Omega 3+ CoQ10
Research has established the critical role of omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA in supporting cardiovascular health and blood vessel elasticity. The compound Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an intracellular (meaning present in your cells) antioxidant that’s essential for the health of tissues and organs. It particularly benefits those cells that are most metabolically active, such as those in the heart muscle.
When taken daily, Omega 3+ CoQ10 promotes normal heart function, blood vessel function, and brain health. The DHA and EPA are extracted from the purest fish oil sources available through molecular distillation to ensure the removal of cholesterol and contaminants, including PCBs and heavy metals. CoQ10 is stored in the mitochondria—your cell’s power source—where one of its primary functions is to generate energy for the cells. Because your body’s natural production of CoQ10 tends to decrease as you age, combining CoQ10 with pure fish oil helps your body absorb and use CoQ10 better!

Arterosil
The endothelial glycocalyx is the protective non-stick lining of your veins and arteries that inhibits cholesterol and other particles from adhering to or penetrating the endothelial wall. It is a delicate structure that can be damaged under many conditions, such as high blood glucose, oxidative stress, and inflammation. When taken daily, arterosil HP delivers the building blocks necessary to help strengthen the artery wall’s protective barrier and may help support healthy circulation, skin, and sexual function.

Feeling Stressed? Consider Autonomic Nervous System Testing
As we continue to make our way through the Coronavirus pandemic we are hearing from many of our guests that they feel their levels of stress and anxiety has increased. You may know that long periods of stress and anxiety can leave you feeling tired and worn out, but did you know that it can have serious long-term effects on your health?
Because the “fight or flight” response that is manifested through stress and anxiety is so powerful, it can cause your body to react in extreme ways. Typically, patients who are exhibiting symptoms of long-term, chronic stress will often complain of:
- Headaches
- Low energy
- Upset stomach, including diarrhea or constipation
- Chest pain
- Insomnia
- Loss of sexual desire
A powerful side effect of stress and anxiety can be a break down of the body’s immune system. Something none of us need as we work to avoid COVID-19.
One test that can help us get a look into a guest’s nervous system Autonomic Nervous System Test or ANS. There’s a lot to know about this test, and we’ve provided a pretty comprehensive look at it on our website where we answer questions like:
What is the Autonomic Nervous System?
The ANS is comprised of the nerves that control the function of the internal organs including our heart, intestines, stomach, bladder, sexual organs, and sweat glands. The ANS plays an essential role in keeping the body’s internal environment optimal via monitoring and maintaining proper temperature, electrolyte balance, blood glucose, blood oxygen concentration, blood carbon dioxide concentration, pH, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate to name a few. As you can see, the nervous system is complex and the ANS plays a huge role in keeping us alive and healthy.
What is an ANS Test?
An ANS test is a simple, painless, and essentially effortless test that we perform in our office. This test consists of having you sit down and place your feet on metal plate. There is also a component where you have your blood pressure monitored. Your heart rate and vascular health can easily be assessed with a pulse ox device on your finger while you perform different breathing patterns. It takes less than 15 minutes and is painless and non-invasive while providing us with important information.
Why is an ANS Performed?
We perform ANS testing because of the vast amount of information it gives us. ANS testing looks at ANS activity, mental stress, vascular health, insulin resistance, and sudomotor function. We get individual scores for each of these components of the ANS and are then able to assess these areas individually. ANS testing allows us to identify areas of the ANS that could be improved on and help you optimize your health.
What Are the Benefits of an ANS Test?
The main benefit of this test is the early detection of ANS diseases, damage, and dysfunction. Since the ANS is not a system that is easily observed, early detection of dysfunction can enable medical providers to help you make changes in your life to prevent disease or early death. Every disease state affects the ANS in some way and this testing helps us identify early, subtle signs of disease.
How Often Should I Get an ANS Test?
Generally, we recommend having an ANS test performed once per year, usually during your Complete Health Assessment prior to your annual. There are some circumstances where the frequency of ANS testing is increased and if necessary, your provider will discuss this with you.
How Much Does an ANS Test Cost?
Here at the Wright Center for Woman’s Health, we bill your insurance for the cost of the ANS test. Since we see so much value in this test and the powerful information we receive, we make the ANS test available to all of our guests at no out of pocket cost to them.

Methyl Factors Plus
Methylation is a biochemical process that impacts the body’s ability to regulate cardiovascular, neurological, reproductive, and detoxification systems. Unfortunately, the nutrients needed for the methylation process are nearly impossible to get from the average American diet, mainly due to the abundance of processed foods and the loss of nutrients in our soil.
When taken daily, METHYL FACTORS+ provides five essential methylation nutrients—methylfolate (5-MTHF), active B6, active B2, active methyl B12, and betaine—in their most bioavailable forms. One of methylation’s most important roles in the body is keeping homocysteine levels in check. Homocysteine is a common amino acid in your blood. Maintaining a desirable level of homocysteine is one of the leading biomarkers for the maintenance of good cardiovascular health. Preventing an undesirable homocysteine level is also associated with the maintenance of bone, female reproductive, cognitive, and neurological health.

Should You Keep Your Regular Doctors Appointments During the Coronavirus Pandemic?
As we continue to navigate our way through the Coronavirus pandemic we’re often asked about whether our guests should continue to keep their regularly scheduled doctor appointments.
The short answer is yes. However, like everything else these days, the longer answer is a little more complicated.
We absolutely want all our guests to continue to make and keep their regularly scheduled appointments and we want you to know that we are taking every precaution to keep guests safe when they visit The Wright Center.
You can view those precautions in our COVID-19 FAQs.
As you plan your next appointment we would like for you to consider beginning it as a telehealth visit. Our providers will perform an initial consultation via phone and bill the visit to your medical insurance, just like a standard in-person visit to our office. From there, we will determine after talking with you if you need to visit the office for an in-person appointment.
Whether you need to travel to our office will be determined by a number of factors including the nature of the visit, the immediate need to see the doctor in person, and your personal exposure to those with Coronavirus, if any.
We truly hope to be able to see all of our guests in person very soon. We miss seeing you.
But in the meantime know that all of us at The Wright Center are working hard every day to ensure the safety of our guests and each other. To schedule your next visit call us at (630) 687-9595 or complete our Request an Appointment form.
