Giving to Charities

aspca-group-1024x592

So every month our clients, (That would be you) help us to decide which charity we will donate to by choosing an Exceptional Staff Member of the Month. How does that happen? Well, every month whoever a client mentions by name in a survey or review who went above and beyond gets to be the Exceptional Staff Member of the Month and then that staff member chooses which charity the practice will donate to that month. This month one of our fantabulous clients mentioned that “two awesome ladies who comforted me the whole time knowing I was not a fan of needles” during her blood draw. Those two ladies were Kathy and Rebeccah! And they chose ASPCA.org for their charity. A special thank you to this client for giving us the opportunity to give!

Your gift will make a big impact on the lives of animals in need.
Thank you for supporting the ASPCA.

Thank you for supporting the ASPCA! We have successfully processed your
gift of $150.00.

You can make an even bigger difference for animals by spreading the word
and encouraging your friends and family to join you in support of the
ASPCA.

Your support is critical to our ongoing efforts to rescue and protect
vulnerable and needy animals. It is thanks to friends like you that we
can create and continue the life-saving programs that help so many
animals and pet parents across the country. On behalf of the animals we
serve, thank you for supporting the ASPCA.

Sincerely,

Matt Bershadker
ASPCA President & CEO

P.S. You may be able to double the impact of your gift. If your company
offers a corporate matching gift program, ask your Human Resources
department for a form and return it to the ASPCA. Or you can search for
your company on our matching gift lookup site.

Meet Addyi

On Jan 14, 2016, the FDA published an explanation of why it turned down the drug twice then approved it on the 3rd round (even though some important issues still loom…like an increase in breast cancer when tested on mice).

Here’s a video about the FDA’s story as told by the FDA (click to view).  You can also read the actual New England Journal Statement there as well.

Alternatives to Addyi include proper hormone replacement, marriage and sexual counseling, and the O-Shot® procedure (which uses the same technology used in the Vampire Facelift® procedure).

Since Addyi will be in the news quite a bit over the next few months (the company spent 1.5 billion bringing the drug to market, so you will see some ads).  Thought you’d want to see the science for yourself.

Very best regards,

The Wright Center for Women’s Health

P.S. Contact us at 630-687-9595 or info@thewrightobgyn.com to see if the o-shot might help you.

When Menopause Causes Lifestyle Issues

l_shutterstock_hot-flash_1200x675

The side effects of menopause may be minimal or severe, embarrassing or just annoying. When the hot flashes, fatigue, reduced sex drive, moodiness or anxiety become more than a minor inconvenience, hormone replacement therapy may give you the relief you need.

Menopause is a perfectly normal stage of life, and is a result of the body producing less estrogen and progesterone. The fluctuating hormone levels are the cause of the side effects, and could stabilize after 4 or 5 years. Many studies have been done that indicate post-menopausal woman are at a higher risk of heart disease or bone loss even after the hormone levels stabilize. Hormone replacement therapy is a proven treatment that will improve these conditions.

The Mayo clinic says that, “Despite the health risks, systemic estrogen is still the most effective treatment for menopausal symptoms. The benefits of hormone therapy may outweigh the risks if you’re healthy and:

  • Experience moderate to severe hot flashes or other menopausal symptoms
  • Have lost bone mass and either can’t tolerate or aren’t benefitting from other treatments
  • Stopped having periods before age 40 (premature menopause) or lost normal function of your ovaries before age 40 (premature ovarian insufficiency)

In many cases, the benefits of hormone therapy outweigh the risks.”

Women seeking relief through hormone replacement therapy have choices: including estrogen replacement and estrogen/progesterone/progestin/testosterone replacement. Your doctor may prescribe hormone replacement pills, patches, creams, injections or hormone pellet implants. Each method has pros and cons, and your doctor will prescribe the best method for you, your body and your symptoms.

Menopause and post –menopause is a beautiful, satisfying time of life that can be filled with potential and opportunity. Make the most out of it by equipping your body to handle it safely and effectively.

The Wright Center for Women’s Health, located in Naperville,IL will meet with you to discuss your questions and symptoms. Dr. Wright and The Wright Center providers will prescribe the best treatment for your individual needs, and answer any concerns you may have.

Currently we have started a wonderful program of Bioidentical hormones.
